Patrick Murphy is Chairman of the Aviation Group Performance Consultants. He and his team are dedicated to providing advisory, coaching and leadership skills to senior executives and implementing coaching as a management tool within organizations.

About Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy has over 30 years’ experience with the airline industry including Chairman of the Board of Ryanair – the low cost airline – and more recently Director, Corporate Development, the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

As Chairman of the Board of Ryanair he was responsible for Ryanair’s transformation from a traditional full service regional airline into the low cost airline. He is widely known for creating its successful business model and laying the foundations for a world class airline.

For the past ten years Patrick Murphy worked with IATA as Director for Corporate Development and Director, Interline Tariffs. He helped in IATA’s transformation to become a dynamic commercial organization that provides effective leadership and support to the airline industry today.

Between 1987 and 1992 Patrick Murphy was Managing Director of Irish Continental Group (ICG) – the largest ferry and container ship operator in Ireland. There, he oversaw rapid and profitable growth followed by the acquisition of the state owned shipping company and the subsequent launching (IPO) on the Irish Stock Market.

Patrick Murphy’s early career was with Aer Lingus where he managed commercial activities including research, government and industry affairs, interline agreements, pricing, marketing and sales. In the mid eighties he was General Manager, Strategic Development where he was actively involved in new business development, consultancy and ancillary activities.
