Overview

David Hemery is Deputy Chairman of Performance Consultants International.

He is highly regarded speaker on coaching for performance and developing potential and is currently working closely with Lord Coe and Colin Moynihan as Vice Chairman of the British Olympic Association to capture the spirit of the Olympics.

Professional Background

David is a founding partner of Performance Consultants, a partnership originally formed some 16 years ago by three international sportsmen, Sir John Whitmore (British and European saloon car racing champion), David Whitaker (Coach to the Olympic Gold medal winning Field Hockey team) and himself (Athletics Olympic Gold Medallist) to bring their knowledge and experience into the world of work.

Over the years, Performance Consultants pioneered workplace coaching and management style transformation in many large organisations from all sectors Barclays, Standard Life, Lloyds TSB and many others in the financial sector, Clarks shoes, Rover cars, Rolls Royce (Aviation) and more in manufacturing, most of the major pharmaceutical companies in the UK and abroad, and many others companies. In the not-for-profit sector they worked with, among others, the IRS, Customs and Excise, Danish Centre for Human Rights, British Council, National College of School Leadership and several police services.

Professional Experience

David Hemery CBE, is best known for his days in sport, both as Olympic Champion & World Record holder in the 400m hurdles and later three-times winner of Superstars.



His talks and workshops have been run for a wide variety of companies and sports. They are intended to be inspirational and thought provoking, combining his own experiences, with his research into what makes an achiever & how we can bring the best out of ourselves and those with whom we work.

He received his BSc in Business Administration from Boston University; his Certificate of Education in Economics & RE from Oxford University; his Masters in International Education from Harvard and his Educational Doctorate in Social Psychology from Boston University.

As a founding partner with Sir John Whitmore and David Whitaker of Performance Consultants he has spent almost 20 years applying the principles of coaching into management, providing coaching and mentoring training and executive coaching within many of the UK's blue chip companies.

David has worked with various sports coaches including basketball, biathlon, boxing, equestrian, football, gymnastics, hockey, rugby, tennis and of track and field athletics. Also, he has worked on the self-awareness, mental toughness and the power of positive imagery and clear focus, with a wide variety of sports performers from grass roots to Olympic medallists and in addition to the sports above, individuals in golf, motor racing and weight lifting.

David has a belief that there is a spark of greatness in everyone and that enhanced coaching/mentoring skills helps us to bring out more of that innate potential in ourselves and others.
